Don’t forget the Alaska Rock Gym when planning your next party! Kids, adults, families or groups will have an experience to remember at a climbing party hosted at the gym. Climbing parties are appropriate for almost everyone, kids age 6 and up, to adults. For the low price of $15.00 per participant, we provide day pass, rental gear and belaying. Party times are limited, so plan on booking 4-6 weeks in advance. Please read through the following bullet points to understand just how a climbing party works at the Alaska Rock Gym. Then call for availability and put down a deposit to hold your reservation. Don’t forget, each party participant under the age of 18 must have an Alaska Rock Gym liability waiver that has been signed by a parent or legal guardian. Each visit to the gym requires a new waiver.

Birthday parties are held at the Alaska Rock Gym on Saturday mornings from 10am -12pm, from September through May, and from 1-3pm during the summer months. The gym is closed for regular business at that time. We allow parties with a minimum of 6 participants and a maximum of 20.

Cost of the party is $15/participant. We provide 90 minutes of supervised, belayed climbing and all gear, including shoes. Parents are asked to provide general supervision. We do not provide cake and ice cream. We have a freezer available to keep ice cream or ice cream cakes cold.

Each participant will NOT have his/her own personal belayer; participant to belayer ratio is about 5/1. Climbers rest and boulder on low walls in an un-roped fashion between belayed climbs.

Each participant under the age of 18 MUST have an Alaska Rock Gym liability waiver that has been COMPLETELY FILLED OUT AND SIGNED by a parent or legal guardian. This is an ABSOLUTE requirement. Though children may have been to previous parties or kids’ classes here at the gym, we do not keep those waivers available on file. We can fax a waiver form, waivers may down-loaded from this web site, or waivers may be picked up at the gym. We recommend waivers be included with the invitations.

A 50% deposit, based on the estimated number of participants, is required to make a reservation. The deposit can be made in person or over the phone with a credit card. We take Visa, MC and American Express. The balance of the cost is paid the day of the party.

The party giver is asked to confirm the number of participants by the Wednesday before the party date. This allows us to set the number of belayers we will require for the day. If no confirmation is made, the party giver is charged for either the estimated number of participants, or the actual number of participants, whichever is greater.

Experience has shown us that most party participants poop out after about 90 minutes of climbing. This leaves the group 30 minutes to do presents and cake or snack. The gym opens for regular business at 12 noon during winter months and at 3pm during the summer, so the party should be wrapping up by opening time.

We have a seating area in the center of the gym, and each party is given a table and chairs to set up around. Party givers can decorate with table clothes and anything else they desire. Please NO BALLOONS, they get stuck in our ceiling fans. Don’t forget a cake knife, lighter or matches and ice cream scoop. Please clean up your area before leaving the gym.
