General Facility Rules
- Everyone must check in and have a current waiver on file.
- A gym orientation is required for all ARG visitors and members.
- Use only UIAA-approved harnesses and belay devices, per manufacturer instructions.
- Belay is required when participants are climbing more than one body length off the ground.
- No street shoes, food, or drinks on padded surfaces.
- No swinging, hanging, or pulling on ropes.
- No running, yelling, or horseplay.
- Be respectful of others.
Climbing Policies
Lead Rope Requirements
- Personal lead ropes must be UIAA-certified dynamic ropes, 9.4–10.2mm, and at least 40m.
- Staff will not inspect personal gear.
Bouldering
- Bouldering is inherently risky. Falls and injuries are common.
- All climbers must complete a bouldering orientation.
- Avoid climbing above your ability.
- Do not climb above or walk under other climbers.
- No topping out! Stay below the final hold or top of the boulder wall.
- Keep gear off padded surfaces.
Youth Supervision
- Children under 14 must be directly supervised by a parent or guardian.
- Supervising adults must stay actively engaged and within sight.
Ages 10-13
- Must be within sight of an engaged adult in the boulder area.
- Must be directly supervised when using auto belays.
- One adult may supervise up to 5 kids under 14.
Ages 9 & Under
- Not allowed in the boulder area except during youth bouldering hours:
- Wed & Sat: 9:30am–12:00pm
- Sun: 1:00–6:00pm
- Must be with a non-climbing, non-belaying adult at all times.
- Cannot supervise and climb/belay at the same time.
- One adult may supervise up to 3 children aged 9 & under.
Infants & Toddlers
Infants in Carriers
- Place carriers on hard flooring only, never on padded surfaces.
- Infants must remain in direct line of sight at all times.
Mobile Infants & Toddlers
- Must be within arm’s reach of a non-climbing, non-belaying adult.
- Padded areas are not play zones—keep children off unless actively climbing.
Behavior Expectations
- If your child is crying, running, or entering fall zones, please respond immediately.
- If the disruption continues, we may ask that the child be removed from the area.
